As a Mechanical Engineer in the energy industry, you could turn ideas into plans and plans into reality for the machinery and equipment that makes energy production possible. You might design new pumps, install new engines or carry out maintenance on turbines and other machinery to keep energy flowing safely. You’ll also be able to help identify any issues and how to fix them.

Mechanical Engineers are usually based in offices and make regular visits to energy production installations both on and offshore. You might work for an energy producer directly, or a specialist contractor or consultancy, and will usually be part of a bigger engineering team. 

Whether you’re inspecting equipment to help keep production facilities operating or designing new offshore wind turbines to help produce clean energy, as a Mechanical Engineer, you’ll be helping to make sure that the energy we need keeps flowing.
